Surrendering a Dog or Puppy to BTTR
Please understand that there is a huge overpopulation of beagles in this state and in this area. We understand that you are trying to avoid taking your pet to a kill shelter. There are no-kill shelters in the area, such as the Norfolk SPCA. They, like BTTR, generally have a waiting list. The sad fact is, we turn away far many more beagles than we are able to take into our program... we are a very small rescue group run by a group of friends. Sometimes we can do a courtesy post for you on petfinder.com. There is no sense doing a courtesy listing for you on our website if you are not local, as people search for pets on petfinder.com using their local zip code. Click here for information on Rehoming Your Pet -- in case local rescue groups cannot help you. BTTR may be able to take your animal. Email your request to us at familydogclub@hotmail.com. We need certain things for you before we can make a decision about your dog: Is the animal your pet or was it a stray that you have found? How long have you had it? Why are you wanting to surrender the animal? What is the animal's size (weight, approximate height - knee high, etc.)? What is the animal's approximate age? What vet history can you provide (neutered/spayed, on heartworm preventative, last heartworm test and results, any vaccination history, any health problems)? What temperment history can you provide (good/bad with cats, other dogs, kids, toddlers, separation anxiety, scared of people wearing hats - anything that will help us evaluate potential adoption applicants for a good match with the animal)? Attach photo(s) of pet to email. We will not make a decision without seeing the animal in question. We are a breed-specific rescue, focused on beagles. You can also call us at 757-204-4411. |
